As a result of COVID-19, we changed our procedure for District Conference this year. Under the current Governor’s executive order, an in-person District Conference is not possible, since it violates recommendations of keeping gatherings to less than 10 people and to conduct business meetings virtually whenever possible. Although it is possible to include a large number of people in a Zoom meeting, the logistics of voting and allowing for questions, etc., are quite cumbersome. To solve this problem, we consulted with the Conference legal team to determine exactly who must be present to vote on the business of the district. They determined that it is acceptable for the trustees of the district to act on behalf of the district, and that their voting can be accomplished via the Zoom meeting platform. Therefore, the District Conference was conducted with the District Trustees via Zoom to approve the district’s budget for 2021 and the District Officers. This meeting was held on May 20.
This packet includes reports of the District Lay Leader, Finance Committee, and Missions Committee, the approved budget for 2021, and the District Officers for 2020-2021, as well as the slate of at-large lay delegates to Annual Conference for 2020.
